You CAN install sod lawns this time of year.  The sod will not grow, but
remain dormant for the next few months.  As soon as the weather and
ground temperature warms, the root system will begin to grow.  Your lawn will
be ready for spring!
Use your lawn mower with the grass catching attachment to vacuum the
leaves and keep the yard looking neat and clean.
Redesign old, overgrown and crowded bedding areas.  Remove weak,
sparse and diseased plants.  Reposition crowded bushes. Introduce new,
drought resistant plants with great colors and textures.
Apply fresh pinestraw or mulch to your bedding areas.
Plant container grown and balled and burlapped trees now!
Fertilize your cool weather flowers in planters and containers.  Pansies,
violas, snapdragons, kale and ornamental cabbage provide a splash of color
to the landscape.
Trim bushes and prune low branches from your trees.
Make sure your pets have adequate shelter and plenty of fresh water.
Feed your feathered friends!  Use squirrel proof feeders filled with black oil
sunflower seeds to attract a wide variety of birds. Use suet feeders for the
woodpeckers and thistle feeders for the finches. Make sure to give them
plenty of fresh water!
